PEI 9085 (made of ULTEMTM 9085 resin) is a material with an exceptional strength. It is used on a daily basis in the most demanding sectors, such as aviation, rail transport and automotive industry.
Thanks to its unique properties, such as incombustibility (UL 94 V0) and non-toxicity, it is valued and approved by aircraft manufacturers (FAR 25.853) and rail industry (EN 45545).
Components made of ULTEMTM resin are effective substitutes for metal elements, combining the resistance of steel and the lightness of aluminum. This makes it possible to reduce the time and expenses connected to development and manufacturing fully functional parts.
PEI 9085 stands out with its high resistance to abrasion, elevated temperature of up to 180°C, solvents and UV radiation. All this makes it an excellent choice for applications designed to operate in extreme conditions.
Additionally, it is characterized by its high dielectric strength and good thermal conductivity. In comparison to other materials such as PEEK and PEKK, PEI 9085 shows slightly lower strength, stability and creep resistance.
3D printing with PEI 9085 is only possible with the use of printers adapted to processing high-temperature materials (e.g., PEEK, PEKK, PEI, etc.). To obtain high-quality prints, it is essential to use a heated chamber which provides even heat distribution.
